About
Established in 1959, we are a nomination based service society comprised of some of the most phenomenal women leaders on West Chester University's campus.
Our three ideals of friendship, leadership, and character are represented by our Greek letters of Phi, Chi, Omicron. Each semester, we nominate women on our campus that display these characteristics as well as a heart for service and an unparalleled academic drive.
The Abbé Society is one of the most devoted groups of women here at West Chester University. We are proud to declare that we have won various campus awards including the University's Community Service Leadership Award, the National Volunteer Week Award, the Community Service Award presented by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater West Chester, and have been recognized formally by The House of Representatives and The Senate of Pennsylvania.

history
In 1959, Lorraine Goldstein Miller wanted to create a space for women to make an impact in their campus and community. Along with eight other women leaders, these founding sisters worked tirelessly to promote community service at West Chester alongside our brother organization, The Friars' Society. And thus, history was made.
The Abbés were officially recognized by the university in 1969 & have been serving their community ever since. |
